PLOVER: Panera Bread Coming to Crossroads
By Brandi Makuski
Officials from the Village of Plover on Tuesday confirmed Panera Bread is moving into the former location of Denny’s at 1258 Commerce Place.
“They submitted a site plan; it will be on the city plan commission agenda for Monday,” said Richard Holden, community development manager for Plover.
Village Administrator Dan Mahoney announced “something big” was coming to the building last Dec., but until the company filed some type of public document — a building permit or site plan — no one from the village could confirm the company’s name.
Holden said the company submitted a site plan this week for village review, which is requirement any time a company wants to make certain changes to an existing property.
“They’re going to have a drive-up window, so they’re changing the parking lot a little bit, and changing the face of the building a little bit,” Holden said, adding the company needs village approval to make the changes.
Panera Bread offers counter-service bakery, sandwiches, salads, soups and bread at locations across the nation, with a local presence in Wausau.
The property had previously been home to Denny’s, and before that Husdon’s Classic Grill.
The Plover Plan Commission meets at 5:30 PM on Monday, Mar. 14 in the village municipal building, 2400 Post Road. The public is welcome to attend.
