2016 Campaign Drive chairs team up to donate paper to local schools

Long before becoming Campaign Drive chairs for 2016, the Hofmeister family – through their family-owned business, Spectra Print – were strong supporters of United Way of Portage County.
Their in-kind support of printing the nonprofit’s campaign brochures, pledge forms, coupon book, posters and numerous other projects has allowed United Way to keep fund-raising and administrative costs below 14 percent.
“We have always wanted to give back to the community that has done so much for our company and family,” said Hans Hofmeister, Spectra Print executive vice president. “We believe that to have a successful business, you need to have a strong workforce and community.”
Spectra Print’s commitment to the community not only extends to United Way, but to many other nonprofits and others in the community. Recently, in collaboration with Domtar’s Nekoosa Mill, Spectra Print donated loose-leaf paper to area schools. Domtar sent 10 tons of Tradebook paper to Spectra, which trimmed the paper to notebook size and printed lines on it.
United Way of Inner Wisconsin and Domtar distributed half the paper to schools in Wisconsin Rapids, while United Way of Portage County and Spectra Print are distributing the other half to schools in Portage County.
“We’re in the paper business, and we believe strongly in education, and this is our way of supporting area schools,” said Hofmeister.
While the majority of the paper has been distributed, boxes of loose-leaf paper are still available. Schools, youth groups and others interested in receiving paper should contact United Way of Portage County at 715-341-6740 or [email protected].
