Kolor Run, Trivia Parade Up for Approval

Three events are up for approval at Monday’s public protection committee.
A UW- Stevens Point Kolor Run, which benefits the Children’s Miracle Network is scheduled for April 30. The event begins at the UWSP Sundial, travels through Schmeekle Reserve to Northpoint Drive, then south on Michigan Ave. and back to the Sundial. The event is sponsored by Centertainment Productions
The Stevens Point Area YMCA will be holding its annual Point Duathlon on Aug. 20, along with a kids event on Aug. 19. The race is staged from Illinois Ave. near the Allen Center on the UWSP campus, and travels through roads and paths on campus, through Schmeekle Reserve and surrounding areas. Bicycle routes of the race travel through the townships of Hull and Dewey.
The race was previously been held by the United Way of Portage County, and approximately 500 participants are expected.
Friends of 90FM and WWSP 90FM Radio have scheduled the annual Trivia Parade on April 15 at 4 PM. The parade will begin in Parking Lot Q and travel its usual route: Illinois Ave, north to Maria Dr., west on Maria Dr. to Isadore St., south on Isadore St. to Portage St., east on Portage St. to Phillips St., south on Phillips St. to College Ave., east on College Street to Reserve St., north on Reserve St. to High St., east on High St. to Fremont St., south on Fremont St. to Simms Ave., and east on Simms Ave. into the P.J. Jacobs parking lot.
The parade is expected to last about an hour.
All three events require at least partial closure of city streets, which requires approval from the city.
The public protection committee meets at 6 PM on Monday, Mar. 14 at Lincoln Center, 1519 Water Street. The public is welcome to attend.
