City Times Staff
Veterans in need of job placement assistant or resume building are invited to the courthouse on Wednesday to meet with the Casey Schoettmer.
Schoettmer, the Wisconsin Disabled Veterans Outreach Program representative, said veterans do not need to be disabled to receive services. Schoettmer offers help with employment and educational goals.
Some of the services provided by Schoettmer’s office includes job placement, assisted job search, resume development, employer referrals and referral to education benefits for vocational rehabilitation.
“You can consider our team as the network that other job seekers who did not spend years away from Wisconsin serving their country have,” Schoettmer said.
Mike Clements, the Portage Co. Veterans Service Officer, also said his office is always available to veterans of all ages, and he regularly assists veterans in applying for benefits, as well as providing emergency funds through the county’s Veterans Relief Fund, for certain emergency needs.
Clements can be reached at (715) 346-1311.
Office hours for Schoettmer will be March 16 from 8 AM to 4 PM in the Portage Co. Veterans Service Office, located on the first floor of the courthouse, 1516 Church Street.
