Romona B. Kirsling
Romona Barbara Kirsling, 91, Waukegan, Ill., a Stevens Point native, died Friday, March 18, 2016, after eight months of illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at St. Dismas Catholic Church in Waukegan, Ill., with the Rev. Patrick Rugen officiating. Interment will be at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Waukegan, Ill.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass.

Mrs. Kirsling was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Stevens Point, a
daughter of the late Stanley and Johanna (Borchardt) Skalski. She graduated from
St. Peter Catholic Grade School and P.J. Jacobs High School.
She was married to Carl Kirsling Oct. 28, 1950, after he
returned from World War II.
They moved to Waukegan where he worked as an electronic technician
at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, and she continued to work at Illinois
Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator until her retirement in 1983,
completing 27 years of service.
She was a member of the Illinois Chapter of the AT&T
Pioneers and the Bereavement Committee of St. Dismas Church.
Survivors include her husband, Carl John Kirsling; two sons,
Michael Gerard and Thomas Joseph; one daughter, Mary Carol; one sister, Sister
Joanne Skalski, S.S.J.; and one cousin, Dorothy Zmuda, Stevens Point.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Gloria
Lundgren; and one brother, Alfred Skalski.
