Sarah Esther Pankow, 90
Sarah Esther Pankow, age 90, formerly of Hortonville and Sturgeon Bay, passed away on March 17, 2016 in Stevens Point.
Sarah was born on July 22, 1925, in Fremont WI., to the late Ernest & Amalia (Meydam) Flunker. Her marriage to Erwin Pankow took place on August 24, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Freemont. She helped Erwin with the family cheese making business and raising a family for many years in Hortonville. Sarah and her husband later moved to Sturgeon Bay along with her family where they owned and operated a Dairy Queen for 15 years.
After Erwin died in November 2003, Sarah moved to Plover to be near some of her children. She loved being with her family, taking care of her flowers and enjoying the outdoors, cleaning, short car trips and going to church.
Sarah is survived by her two daughters; Brenda (Bill) Arndt of Menomonie and Barbara (Ron) Wolosek of Plover. Son; Barry Pankow of Plover. Grandchildren; Brian Arndt, Sara (Jon) Reed and Amy (Andy) Thoms. Two sisters; Marcella Westphal and Joyce Ponto of Weyauwega. Brother; Ken (Elsbeth) Flunker of Neenah. Sister-in-laws; Jeanette Pankow, Jackie Pankow, Ruth Pankow and Elaine Flunker.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernhardt Flunker and Ernie Flunker and one sister, Margaret Pomerening.
Thanks to Ministry Hospice, St. Michael’s Hospital and Atrium Acute Care Center for caring for Sarah.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2016, at Divine Word Lutheran Church 2501 Plover Springs Drive Plover. Pastor Scott Wolfram will officiate. Visitation on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
