GoFundMe Page Established for Shooting Victim

City Times Staff
The friends and family of last week’s shooting victim have established a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses.
Deonta Lezine, 21, was shot on the 2700 block of Fifth Ave. during what police believe was a “drug deal gone bad” on St. Patrick’s Day, though it was not immediately clear if Lezine was a participant in the deal or a bystander attempting to intervene. Lezine remains in critical condition at an undisclosed trauma center.
Multiple attempts to obtain information on the nature of Lezine’s wounds, and which hospital was treating, have been unsuccessful.
Police have named 30-year-old Kyle Engen as a suspect in the shooting.
Police Chief Marty Skibba said investigators from Stevens Point served a search warrant over the weekend with local law enforcement in Dane Co. at a residence where Engen was suspected of living. Engen was not at the property and remains at large.
“We are not releasing any more information at this time until it can be properly verified,” Skibba said Monday morning. “In today’s age of social media, it can be difficult to find relative and factual information, but we have nothing to update anyone on right now.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Engen is asked to call Stevens Point Police Department Det. John Lawrynk 715-498-0454 or Det. Kent Lepak 715-498-0012. Engen is believed to be in possession of a handgun.
