Stevens Point Again Named ‘Tree City’
City Times Staff
The City of Stevens Point has just earned its 35th Tree City USA designation by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The title comes thanks to the city’s commitment to “effective urban tree management”, according to a release from the Arbor Day Foundation.
The city had to meeting four requirements for the recognition: establishing a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an official Arbor Day observation and proclamation.
City Forester Todd Ernster said the city first received the designation was 1976.
