To the Editor-

I am supporting Cathy Dugan for 8th district alderperson in Stevens Point on April 5. I have known Cathy for over 20 years. She is well qualified, informed and involved in community issues. She has a knowledge of the issues confronting our community that is unmatched.

Cathy has written many columns in the Steven Point Journal over the years on smart economic development, open government, natural resources, reliable city services, renewable energy, careful use of tax dollars and many other issues including protecting our ground water. l feel the ground water issue will become a much larger area of concern in the coming years because of pending changes in laws concerning high capacity well permitting and the increases in pesticide and fertilizer runoff. Cathy is well versed on this issue and will work to protect the citizens of our city and county.

Cathy has also had an ongoing involvement  protecting our parks, trails and green spaces. These resources make this community a livable place. We are rated highly nationally because of this.

Cathy has a concern for the smart development of our downtown backed by a deep understanding of the problems this presents. How to attract new business and strike a balance between preserving our heritage and moving forward in this century.

In conclusion I am asking for your vote for Cathy Dugan as the best possible choice for alderperson.
