I-39 Bridge Improvements Scheduled to Begin April 4

Motorists can expect to encounter backups, delays, speed reductions
For the City Times
Work to improve six bridges on I-39 between Plover and Stevens Point in Portage County is currently scheduled to begin April 4.
Lunda Construction Company is the prime contractor for the $1.5 million bridge resurfacing project.
Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures, lane width restrictions, and a reduced speed limit of 55 MPH at each bridge when work is underway.
Traffic backups and delays will likely occur during peak travel times. To avoid delays, local traffic may want to use an alternate route.
Current construction schedule
· WIS 66/Stanley Street bridges (Stevens Point) – early April to late May
· Railroad bridges (Stevens Point)

All work is scheduled for completion in late October 2016.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
