A 24-year-old man accused of domestic abuse,  stalking and false imprisonment returns to court for a pre-trial conference on April 4.

Zachary Robl of Plover was arrested in Feb. after being accused of domestic violence at a Mission Lane apartment. Robl was arrested last June for the same offense at the property but was released on a $5,000 signature bond.

A woman reported the incident at the Plover Police Department, telling police Robl had punched her in the face earlier that day and saying she was “afraid to go back to the apartment” if Robl was there.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman and Robl were arguing via social media during the day. The woman returned home after work and had fallen asleep when Robl attacked her, allegedly punching her three times with a closed fist and calling her names.

The woman said she tried to leave the apartment, but Robl had taken her car keys and cell phone, physically blocked her from leaving and threw her to the floor several times. Sometime later, he brandished a knife and told the woman to leave the residence and withdraw $500 from a nearby ATM. The woman instead went to the police station, where she gave officers permission to enter and search the residence.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they observed the entry door was open and saw Robl inside the residence. Police called out to Robl, informing him he was under arrest. Robl then quickly closed the door and pushed a bookshelf in front of it, requiring officers to kick the door partially open, where one officer wound up “nearly face to face” with Robl.

Officers warned Robl he would be tased if he continued to resist arrest, at which point Robl ran into a back bedroom and locked the door. By then several more officers had responded to the residence and began to negotiate with Robl to peaceably surrender, which he eventually did. According to the complaint, he later apologized to officers.

Officers later reported smelling marijuana in the residence, and found marijuana and a baggie containing methamphetamine in the living room.

The woman told police Robl regularly “steals money from her to pay for his drugs because he does not have a job”. She also said Robl lives with her but is not on the lease and does not pay rent.

Robl faces charges of stalking resulting in bodily harm, domestic abuse/repeater, misdemeanor battery, possession of methamphetamine – second offense, possession of THC- second offense, and multiple counts of bail jumping.

Robl also has several charges pending from earlier incidents 2015 and 2014, to include false imprisonment, criminal damage to property and bail jumping, are pending.

Robl remains in custody on $10,000 cash bond.
