Editorial: A Warning of April Fool’s Shenanigans
By Brandi Makuski
Local politicians control our lives in more ways than we’d care to admit sometimes — and with far more relevance and frequency than officials on the state and federal scene.
They create ordinances which are sometimes contradictory or seem inflated, confusing or silly. Sometimes, they make statements they can’t possibly expect us to actually believe.
Sometimes they don’t reply to phone calls or emails, and sometimes they’re actually kind of mean.
Sometimes, it’s kind of like they actually forget they work for us.
This year marks the fourth annual tradition at the City Times of poking fun at our local leaders on April 1.
Tipping our hat to The Onion and our friends at The Pointer– we’ll sprinkle a bit of April fool’s coverage throughout our morning news on Saturday.
The stories will only appear online and will be marked with a jester’s hat, but come high noon, they will disappear forever.
We’ll begin our usual in-depth election coverage on April 2.
We hope you enjoy both.
