John Filtz Sr.

John Filtz Sr., 84, Land O’ Lakes, a former Stevens Point
home builder, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at his home.
He was under the care of his family and Regional Hospice in Bessemer, Mich.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9,
at St. Stanislaus Church of Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point, with the Rev.
Tom Lindner officiating. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens
Point.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until
the Mass.
A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.
Pisarski Funeral Home in Stevens Point assisted with

Mr. Filtz was born May 14, 1931, in Bevent, a son of the
late Peter and Johanna (Cychosz) Filtz.
He was married to Marge Molnar Sept. 17, 1955, in South
Milwaukee.
He was a home builder for many years in Stevens Point and
surrounding areas and was also a skilled mason, splitting field stone. He
currently helped with the gravel and stone quarry of Pitlik & Wick Inc. in
Watersmeet, Mich., for more than 10 years.
He and his wife spent winters in Arizona and made trips to
Canada.
Survivors include his wife, Marge; three sons, John (Ann)
Filtz Jr., Custer, Jerry (Mickey) Filtz, Plover, and Andy (Wanda Ashbeck) Filtz,
Custer; three daughters, Debbie (Bob) Filtz, Milwaukee, Christine “Cookie”
(Bob) Nichols, Plano, Texas, and Lisa (Frank Jr.) Pisarski, Junction City; three
brothers, Joseph (Dolores) Filtz, South Milwaukee, and Peter (Joyce) Filtz Sr. and
Bill (Patsy) Filtz, both of Bevent; one sister, Marion (Bill) Wojcik, Bevent;
12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by several brothers and
sisters.
