Plover’s Election Results Tallied

City Times Staff
All three of Plover’s representatives up for re-election will remain in office.
Board Trustees Andrew Timm of Ward 1 earned 812 votes; Ward 2’s representative Orville Damrau garnered 1,063 votes and 586 votes came in for Al Tessman of Ward 3. All three ran unopposed.
But the election didn’t go off without its hitches, Plover Administrator Dan Mahoney said. More than half of the village’s residents turnout out to cast a vote — about 53 percent, Mahoney said — which beat the overall state average of about 46 percent voter turnout. Add to that the new photo ID requirement, and many voters experienced a wait.
“This is highest turnout for an election since 1972,” Mahoney said. “Because of the higher turnout, and some of the new requirements, we had some delays.”
Mahoney said the wait averaged between 45 minutes to an hour.
“Our desire is make it as pleasant, and pleasurable a voting experience as possible,” Mahoney said at Wednesday night’s village board meeting. “Ultimately we will bring discussion back to the village board to see if we can concur on ideas.”
