Skyward recently completed its move to its new world headquarters facility in Stevens Point. Employees of the technology firm, which provides programming for schools, finished moving to the new corporate office last week. Now located at 2601 Skyward Drive, the state-of-the-art 190,356 square-foot building holds 395 of the company’s 516 employees with plenty of room for expansion.

Founded in 1980 by owners Jim and Jean King, Skyward was first developed in the Kings’ home. Years later, the company has evolved from its modest beginnings as a small family business into a global technology leader. With six offices across the U.S., Skyward serves more than six million students and 1,800 school districts and municipalities worldwide.

“It has been amazing to see the progress of Skyward’s new world headquarters and the building’s completion,” said Cliff King, CEO of Skyward. “This new work environment will allow us to provide current and future employees with the modern amenities of a contemporary workspace. We are excited about the impact the new facility will have on our district and municipal partners, local community, and the state of Wisconsin.”

Skyward partnered with Miron Construction and architecture firm Performa before breaking ground at its new location in October of 2014. Nearly a year and a half later, all employees of Skyward’s two former Stevens Point offices are working under one roof.

The headquarters incorporates an environmentally conscious design with high-performance features including LED lights, water-saving plumbing, energy-efficient furnaces and more.

To support local and state economies, nearly all of the new building’s materials – 99.5 percent – were sourced from Wisconsin-based suppliers. The facility also features an open concept design with floor-to-ceiling windows permitting natural light, white noise to mask disrupting sound, access to Portage County’s Green Circle Trail, an outdoor patio and tables overlooking a pond, a coffee bar and cafeteria with full-service lunch, and a walk-in clinic staffed by a nurse practitioner.

Skyward plans to hire about 60 additional employees at its new headquarters in 2016, and executives estimate the building will reach its full capacity of more than 900 employees by 2025. The new facility is projected to bring more than $20 million in earnings to the region.
