Donald Gaedtke

Donald Gaedtke, 85, Stevens Point, died Sunday, April 10, 2016.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point. A private burial will be held in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service.

Mr. Gaedtke was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Stevens Point, a son
of the late Earl and Evelyn (Redfield) Gaedtke. He grew up in Stevens Point and
attended local schools.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a medic during
the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1951.
Following his military service, he took a job at Point
Sporting Goods in Stevens Point.
He was married to Mavis Brocker Sept. 30, 1952, at Trinity
Lutheran Church.
He worked for the Tommy Thompson Company as a manufacturer’s
representative. While working there, he earned many awards and commendations
for this work, especially from the Zebco Corporation.
He was a member of the Elks Club and Trinity Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mavis; two daughters,
Robin (Ken) Daley-Burke, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jeanne Waterson, Stevens Point; one
brother, Jerome “Jiggs” Gaedtke, Buena Vista, Ark.; one sister, LouAnne (Gene)
Roy; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, William; and
two infant boys.
