Bernadine M. “Bernie” Zivicki, 88, of Stevens Point, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care of Stevens Point, where she had resided for over 4 ½ years. She was also under the care of Heartland Hospice.

She was born on July 23, 1927, in the town of Linwood, to the late John and Agnes (Pelarski) Lisiecki and attended a country school in Linwood.

On Aug. 24, 1946, her marriage to Leo Zivicki took place at St. Peter Catholic Church. The couple lived on West River Drive until the time of Leo’s death on April 29, 2007. Bernie and Leo had three children: Ken (Linda) Zivicki and Fred Zivicki both of Stevens Point, and Nancy (Randall) Harbath of Green Bay. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Francis Scipior of Stevens Point.

Bernie enjoyed knitting, crocheting and fishing…especially the fishing. She really loved to cook and bake, especially for her family. With eight grandkids, she always made sure there was plenty of kielbasa, homemade chicken noodle soup, walleye and perch for Friday night fish fries, lemon meringue pies and pickles. Her pickles were legendary. Once a jar was opened, they would be gone immediately.

She had belonged to the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary and St. Peter’s Rosary Society.

Bernie had worked at Point Bakery and Copps Central Bakery, retiring in 1992.

In addition to her parents, Bernie was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The Rev. Arul Joseph V. will officiate. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Faustina Room of the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time for Mass.

Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be assisting the family. For online condolences, please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
