The 12-year-old St. Peter’s Middle School student shot the bird, which had a seven-inch beard, during the spring turkey youth hunt, held April 9 and 10.
The family participated in the youth hunt just east of Stevens Point. Luke Carpenter shot the bird around 8 AM on April 9.
