Police Identify Victim in Hwy 10 Accident

Stevens Point police on Tuesday have confirmed the identity of a man killed in a one-vehicle traffic accident on April 7.
George Hanson, 69, died after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Highway 10E around 12:30 PM.
Assistant Chief Tom Zenner said the crash is not suspicious, adding the Wis. State Patrol would assist with accident reconstruction.
Hanson was traveling westbound and left the roadway near the Green Avenue.
Westbound lanes of the roadway between Country Club Dr. and Green Ave. were closed to traffic for about two and a half hours.
Wisconsin Public Service, the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office and the Portage Co. Ambulance Service also responded.
A funeral mass is planned for Hanson on Wednesday.
