Leonard T. Ashbeck Jr., 82, Milladore, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Blenker, with the Rev. Jesse Burish officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the Mass. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ashbeck was born Feb. 24, 1934, at home in Wisconsin
Rapids, a son of the late Leonard and Celia (Hilgart) Ashbeck Sr. He attended
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School in Wisconsin Rapids until he moved with
his parents to a farm in the town of Sherry in Wood County. He finished grade
school at St. Kilian in Blenker and graduated from Auburndale High School in
1952.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954, serving for two years.
He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. After his honorable discharge he farmed
with his father for many years.

He was married to Shirley Ostrowski June 5, 1965, at Sacred
Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.

He was a member of St. Kilian Catholic Church and the
Knights of Columbus, Christ the King Council 4646 of Junction City.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; one son, Thomas
(Angela) Ashbeck, Milladore; one daughter, Marie (Paul) Johannes, Marshfield;
one brother, Paul (Mary Ann) Ashbeck, Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Janet Fruin
and Dolores (Edward) Lang, both of Auburndale; two stepbrothers, David (Fran)
Schlagenhaft, Marshfield, and Richard (Patti) Schlagenhaft, Fond du Lac; two
stepsisters, Thora (Robert) Loescher, Pewaukee, and Fern (Al) Mattson, Calumet,
Mich.; and two grandsons.

He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy.
