Lorraine Packer will celebrate her 99th birthday

Lorraine Packer, formerly of Amherst, will celebrate her 99th birthday Saturday, April 23.
Lorraine was born April 23, 1917, a daughter of Pearl (Rollefson) and Elmer Johnson and was raised in Amherst Junction. She attended Amherst schools.
She married Claire Packer July 16, 1933. He died Oct. 15, 1991.
Their children include Barbara Ogden, Manchester, Iowa; Evelyn Lee, Plymouth, Minn.; Richard (Linda) Packer, Amherst Junction; Peggy Packer, Amherst; Jean (Terry) Schwirtz, Almond; Judy (George) Konkol, Amherst Junction; and Nancy Packer, Portland, Ore.
Her son Gary died June 1, 1990.
Lorraine has 20 grandchildren, 44 great-children and 32 great-great grandchildren.
Her brother, the Rev. K. Roger (Karen) Johnson, resides in Branson, S.D.
Lorraine farmed for 43 years and also was the head cook for the Tomorrow River Schools from 1972 to 1977. She said she enjoys word-find puzzle books, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.
