Phyllis S. Zaruba

Phyllis S. Zaruba, 83, Plover, a retired art teacher, died
Sunday, April 17, 2016, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover.
Private family services will be held.

Mrs. Zaruba was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Bad Ax, Mich., a daughter
of the late Arthur and Florence (Goniewiche) Hall. As a child they moved to
Milwaukee, where she graduated from Lincoln High School.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University
of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She was married to Clyde Zaruba June 26, 1954, in Milwaukee.
He died in 1980.
The couple moved to Amherst in 1968.
She began her career with the Stevens Point Area Public School
District where she worked until 1978 as an art teacher. She worked at Ben
Franklin, P.J. Jacobs, McDill, Roosevelt, Jackson and Plover-Whiting schools.
In 1978 she began working in the insurance industry, which
she continued until her husband died.
She moved to Two Rivers in 1991 and worked in the school
districts of Mishicot, Manitowoc and Two Rivers until her retirement in 1997.
Survivors include three children, Suzette (George) Jirak,
Ocean View, Del., Steven Zaruba, Madison, and Sandra (Thomas) Patoka,
Melbourne, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
