The Ben Franklin Jr. High students remained silent all day on Friday to show their support for anti-bullying and anti-harassment measures for LGBT students in schools. The event was organized by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) and organized by students nationwide.
Students from middle school through college were encouraged to take a vow of silence Friday in an effort to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior by illustrating the silencing effect of bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT.
