Simonis Announces Reelection Bid

Shirley M. Simonis has announced her bid for reelection as Portage Co. Clerk.
Simonis is currently serving her third term as clerk, having been first elected to the post in 2006. She previously had served as deputy clerk.
In a news release, Simonis pointed to her familiarity with the job and ongoing career development.
“I continue to seek new ways to improve the quality of service and availability of information in my office,” Simonis wrote in part, adding she stays regularly stays up-to-date on state and county laws. She also participates in ongoing career development through the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
“With the tough economic times facing all levels of government, it is a top priority for me to maintain the highest level of efficiency while demonstrating fiscal responsibility as county clerk,” Simonis wrote.
Simonis is a lifelong resident of Portage Co. and a member of several county organizations, including the Wis. County Clerk’s Association as well as the association’s vital records committee.
She has two adult daughters and lives with her husband of 39 years.
