Norbert N. Wojcik, 90

Norbert N. Wojcik, 90, died peacefully Saturday morning April 16, in the home he built 61 years ago, with family by his side.
He was born April 29, 1925 in Stevens Point to the late Frank and Nellie Wojcik.
He was a life-time member of St. Peter Parish, having attended St. Peter Grade School and P.J. Jacobs High School.
On October 2, 1948 he married Lucille Maslowski at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Fancher. She preceeded him in death on May 23, 2015, following 66 years of marriage.
Together they raised three children Diane (Allan) Marschke of Whiting, Doug (Tess) Wojcik of Stevens Point and Cindy (Nelson) Gray of Mt. Prospect, Ill.
In addition to his immediate family he is survived by grandchildren Renee (Steve) Johnson, Corey (Dawn) Marschke, Jacy (Drew Garraway ) and Logan Whit (Laurie Spieker) Wojcik, and Nate Gray.
He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Derek and Bryce Johnson, and Paige and Grant Marschke.
He was preceded in death by his parents , sisters Theresa (Joe) Golembiewski, Bernice (Tom) Milkey and Ramona (Clarence) Cychosz, brothers Chester (Sophie), Stanley (Veronica) and Roman. He is survived by his brother Frank Jr. (Joyce.)
In June of 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was part of the Allied Invasion of Normandy, landing on Omaha Beach. He participated in five major battles and campaigns of the war, fighting through northern France, central Europe, and into Germany before the war ended. He was honorably discharged January 1946.
He was employed at Consolidated Papers – River Division in Whiting, retiring as a shift supervisor after 40 years of employment.
He took pride in a well kept yard, enjoyed gardening, working on small engines, carpentry and traveling with his wife throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. Dancing and listening to polka music was a favorite past-time for the two.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the American Legion and St. Peter Holy Name Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service in the St. Faustina room at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation in his name be made to Ministry Health Care Hospice Services.
