Mary Lou Schreier, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, died April 17, 2016 at Arborview Lodge in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mary Lou was born on August 6, 1931 to the late Ralph and Rena (Olson) Smith in Stevens Point. She grew up there, attended the local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1949.

She married Robert Schreier in November of 1952. They later divorced.

Mary Lou worked for Whiting Plover Paper Company and Consolidated Papers in administrative support roles.

Mary Lou will be remembered for her sense of humor and for her loving dedication to her family. She enjoyed playing cards (especially cribbage), watching tv, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with her loved ones. Holidays were always special to her as times for gathering family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Sandra) of Wisconsin Rapids, Steven (Lori) and Susan (James) Walczak of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Brian (Andrea) Schreier of Elverta, CA, Curtis Schreier of Plover, Mary Beth (Ben) Ganzel of Plainfield, WI, and Jeffrey (Steffanie) Walczak of Appleton. She is further survived by great-granddaughter, Lorelai Ganzel; and sisters, Lois (William) Check and Ellen (James) Nelson and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Rena; sister, Shirley Smiley and daughter, Jacqueline Schreier.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stevens Point with Rev. Beth Macha presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. A meal will be served followed by burial in Forest Cemetery, Stevens Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jeremiah’s Crossing, a therapeutic horseback riding ranch in Babcock, WI designed for individuals with special needs. Online condolences may be made at www.bostonfuneralhome.net.
