Showtime Promises to be a Showstopper

SPASH is gearing up for another Showtime.
The show, now in its 37th year, highlights the talents and skills of individuals within the Choir Department. Deb Pionek, SPASH Choir Director was a student in the first Showtime presented in 1979, under the direction of Richard Johnson.
The show has changed with the different talents and musical interests of the choir students. This year, all 120 choir students are involved in the show, which includes performances of the Jackson 5’s “I Want you Back”.
The Concert Choir will perform “Never Gonna Give You Up,” by Rick Astley. The Counterpointers will perform “Sing,” by Pentatonix.
All three choirs will combine to perform the opening song, “I’m a Believer” by Neil Diamond and close the show with “We Got the Beat,” by the Go-Gos.
Luke Adsit, P.J. Jacobs Choir Director and former SPASH Showtime performer is the assistant director of the show.
Opening night is Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 PM in the SPASH auditorium.
The show continues on April 29 and 30 at 7:30 PM and offers a matinee show on Sunday, May 1 at 2:00 PM. Ticket prices are $12 for reserved seating and $10 for general admission.
Tickets can be purchased during the school day from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Ticket outlets are Jim Laabs Music, 1045 Main St., and Mitchell Piano Works, 3201 Main Street.
