Dewey Town Clerk Judy Zdroik (right) lists reasons behind her sudden resignation on Tuesday, April 19, as Town Chairman Dennis Hintz (center) and Supervisor Jerry Kizewski (background, center), along with Zdroik’s husband David, listen.

Zdroik had just informed the town’s residents the day before, during the annual town meeting on April 18, of the problems she’d encountered since taking the position in March, which included unpaid town taxes and incomplete paperwork. That meeting quickly turned into an argument, Zdroik said, similar to the regular April town meeting held that night.

Zdroik had spent some time during the April 19 meeting trying to get existing town employees to complete W-4 paperwork, something which she said was not on file, as well as complete outdated town records, but encountered heavy resistance from the town board.

“That’s it, I’m done,” Zdroik said, as she stood to collect her things.”This is just too much.”

Zdroik held the position for about six weeks, having been appointed after former Clerk Todd Pazdra resigned unexpectedly.
