Photo of the Day: Saddlin’ Up for a Ride Through Town

City Times Staff
City leaders meet Thursday morning for an eight-mile ride through town with Steve Clark (left) from the League of American Bicyclists.
Mayor Mike Wiza, Ald. David Shorr and Kyle Kearns, the city’s economic development specialist, participated in the ride along with members of the bicycle/pedestrian advisory committee. The riders left from in front of the Portage Co. Jail at 8:30 AM.
Clark’s visit was to review the city’s bicycle-friendly infrastructure, and to assist the city in achieving a higher status in the Bicycle Friendly City Program. The city currently holds a “bronze” designation, one of 12 bicycle friendly communities in the state.
Clark would later give a presentation to city leaders about Stevens Point’s bicycle infrastructure, programs, routes, suggestions and best practices.
