The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office is holding a series of drug take back events throughout the county beginning April 27.

Unwanted, unneeded or outdated prescription medication and over-the-counter drugs can be dropped off for disposal by the sheriff’s office. Medication should be in its original container and remove any patient information from the bottle.

Items accepted include pills, syrups, salves, creams and capsules. Inhalers, oxygen tanks, nebulizers, sharps/needles and radioactive cancer medication will not be accepted.

The events are sponsored by the sheriff’s office, Stevens Point Police Dept. and Portage Co. Drug Coalition for Alcohol/Drug Abuse Prevention.
