SentryWorld Golf Course Opens Saturday

SentryWorld Golf Course will be re-opening on Saturday for its first full season with their reconstructed facilities.
The course was renovated by Sentry Insurance last year to modernize and reinvigorate the experience, and the season got a late start because of it. SentryWorld General Manager Mike James says golfers who didn’t get a chance to try out the new greens will find big changes.
“Every hole was touched in a variety of ways,” James said. “The greens, the fairways, the tee boxes, the routing of the golf course, all of that changed. A couple of brand new holes, the course extends on a piece of property that was never used before.”
SentryWorld maintains a community discount for residents of Portage, Marathon, Wood, and Waupaca counties to play the course. James said that relationship was important for the facility to keep strong.
“SentryWorld has always been available for the general public to come in and play, and use the community, so it’s nice to re-open this golf course and this whole property with this high level of facility, and now we’re trying to match that with the service,” said James.
The general manager played the course himself in a bit of a “quality control mission,” and he thinks that the course has actually improved since settling after the construction.
“I believe the golf course going into the season is stronger than it was last year. The turf quality is a little bit thicker, it’s a little better, a little stronger. Tees, greens, fairways look fantastic.”
SentryWorld also offers a military discount. The golf course is taking bookings through October 30th.
