Shoe Column: Just Passin’ Through

Stevens Point has always been known for having great businesses. In the past, there were wonderful places to go, and Point still has its fair share of people to know and places to see.

However, I’m curious. Does anyone know if the late Reggie White of the Packers or former Yankee Roy White or “Wheel of Fortune’s” Vanna White ever went to the Little White Inn or the Charles M. White Library?

Did former Oakland A’s pitchers Vida Blue or Blue Moon Odom ever stop in at Blue Cross, Blueberry Muffin, or the Blue Top?

Some people used to walk across the Black Bridge. Just wondering if former pitcher Bud Black or Jack Black of “King Kong” did it.

Did former Dallas Cowboy Golden Richards or Golden Tate of the Lions ever drop by the Golden Peacock or the Golden Hanger? They could always get a good deal at Kevin Flatoff’s Gold Key Motors.

Pete’s Silver Coach really packed them in. Jared Redfield’s dad owned it. Former Milwaukee Buck Michael Redd might’ve been there, as well as Redd Foxx of “Sanford & Son”. Maybe even singer Helen Reddy. And I also wonder if comedians Red Skelton and Red Buttons and former Celtic coach Red Auerbach ever went to Rene’s Red Rooster or the Red Owl. Did former Milwaukee Brave Red Schoendienst ever eat at the Red Mill?

The Green Tea was not on Green Avenue. I doubt if Lisa Douglas of “Green Acres” went there, but maybe Ahman Green of the Packers did. Wouldn’t rule out Kevin Greene of the Steelers or Loren Greene of “Bonanza” either.

Oops. Gotta go now. The Pink Panther just came on.
