Judith Ann Schwantes

Judith Ann Schwantes, 82, Miromar Lakes, Fla., a former
Stevens Point resident, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Joanne’s House at Hope
Hospice in Bonita Springs, Fla., following a lengthy hospitalization.
Services will be private, per her wishes, and held at a
later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of
one’s preference.

Mrs. Schwantes was born with her twin sister, Jill, Jan. 17,
1934, in Milwaukee, daughters of the late Frank Wallace and Grace Evelyn
(Bostwick) Gilbert. The family moved to Fort Atkinson in the 1940s where she attended
school and graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in the Class of 1952.
She attended Ripon College and received an X-ray technician degree
in 1954 at UW Hospitals in Madison.
She was married to William R. Schwantes Dec. 4, 1954.
They lived in several states and finally settled in Stevens
Point for 20 years. They retired in 1993 and moved to Florida.
Summers were spent at their second home on Clear Lake in
Tomahawk for the last 36 years.
After living 13 years on Barefoot Beach in Florida, her
choice of their final home together was in Miromar Lakes,
Fla.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill; three children,
Todd (Maria) Schwantes, Middleton, Amy (Mike) Mayek, Clintonville, and Sara
(Chris) Staszak, Sun Prairie; one sister, Jacqueline Wittman, Bradenton, Fla.; and
five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Jill
Flynn.
