Irene K. Sauberlich, 94, Birmingham, Ala., a town of Lanark native, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Sheridan Cemetery in the town of Farmington in Waupaca County, with Chaplain John Schmidt officiating.

Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca assisted with
arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.maplecrestfh.com.

Mrs. Sauberlich was born May 17, 1921, in the town of Lanark
in Portage County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Frieda (Voss) Cartwright.

She was married to Howerde Sauberlich in 1945. They
celebrated their 50th anniversary in Waupaca. He died in 2001.

She and her husband lived in many places, including
Indonesia. They eventually settled in Birmingham, Ala., in 1983.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Philbin, Highlands
Ranch, Colo.; one son, Howerde (significant other, Shari Calloway) Sauberlich,
Birmingham, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, LaVern
Cartwright; and three sisters, Bernice Sauberlich, Sylvia Durrant and Josephine
Nelson.
