Photo of the Day: Thanks for Dinner, But Duty Calls

A Stevens Point firefighter hurries into the cab of a fire engine as an ambulance pulls out of the Station No. 1 bay on May 5.
Just moments before, firefighters had been chatting with students from UW-Stevens Point. The students, along with their professor, Valerie Budd, were visiting from the Positive Psychology class with goodies and dinner for the firefighters.
“We decided to show our appreciation for the fire department, so we held a bake sale, and raised money and have donations from local businesses, and got some gift cards,” Budd said. “We wanted to basically buy dinners for each of the three shifts.”
Budd, along with students Patino Tamayo, Bethany Lewandowski, Kristina Stroklasa and Samantha Lampercht had just delivered their gifts, along with some baked goodies, when the firefighters’ pages began to ring.
