Albert J. Dobbe

Albert John Dobbe, 81, rural Almond, died Monday, May 9,
2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21,
at Shepherd of the Lakes Church in Waupaca, with Pastor Dean Wheeler and Pastor
Kevin Eide officiating. Military honors will follow the service at church.
Visitation will be at the church from 1 p.m. Saturday until
the service.
Memorials would be appreciated to restoration of South New
Hope Church in the town of New Hope.

Mr. Dobbe was born April 3, 1935, in Rosholt, the youngest
of the five children of G. Oliver Dobbe and Mabel (Anderson) Dobbe. He
graduated from Rosholt High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Nov. 18, 1954. He was honorably
discharged Nov. 15, 1957.
He returned to Rosholt, working in construction until
accepting employment at the Wisconsin Veterans Home where he worked until his
retirement.
He was an accomplished woodworker, completing many furniture
and cabinet projects, as well as building two houses. In his retirement years, he
helped with the carpentry work in the restoration of the Old Norwegian church,
South New Hope Church in New Hope, of which his ancestors were founding
members.
He was married to Caryl Gullikson June 28, 2008, in
Onalaska.
They spent winters in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Caryl; two stepchildren, Krista
(Eric) Engholdt, Onalaska, and Kevin (Heather) Eide, Milwaukee; and eight
stepgrandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Earl Dobbe;
and three sisters, Harriot Dobbe Young, Marion Paris, and Ruby Forseth.
