flagJohn C. Kloberdanz, age 88, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Stevens Point.

He was born February 7, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Margaret (Applehans) and Alexander Kloberdanz. John was a graduate of Omro High School, class of 1947. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Following his military service, John attended Notre Dame University. He worked for the FDIC as a bank auditor in Hillside, Illinois. John relocated back to Wisconsin to be close to his aging parents and worked as a bar/restaurant manager at several establishments in northeastern Wisconsin. He also spent time working in the computer department at FVTC in Oshkosh.

In later years, after relocating to the Iola area, he assisted in transporting the elderly to and from medical facility visits – doing this well into his 80s!

John is survived and will be missed by sisters, Anna Oddo, Waterford, Wisconsin, and Rose Marie Jorgensen, St. Charles, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews residing in WI, IL, MN, FL, CO and NM. He is also survived by his very dear friends and caregivers Claude and Michelle Scott of Iola. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Francis Flathau, Leona Kroening, Margarette Pizzi and Katherine Williams; his brothers, Peter and Alexander Kloberdanz; brothers-in-law, Bob Flathau, Herman Kroening, Armando Pizzi, Joseph Oddo and Gordon Jorgensen; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Kloberdanz.

A memorial service is being planned for June 2016. Burial will be at the Omro Cemetery, Omro, Wisconsin.
