Donna Eckerman, 87, Wisconsin Rapids, mother of a Plover man, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at her home after an extended battle with heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Valentine Joseph officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 15, and at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the services.

A memorial in her name will be established at a later date.

Mrs. Eckerman was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Ellensburg, Wash.,
a daughter of the late Henry and Marion (Gallagher) Schacht.

She worked at Johnson Hills Department Store, retiring Dec.
31, 1994.

She was married to Jim Eckerman. He died one month after she
retired.

She was a devoted Catholic and was involved in the church,
including being a founding member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. She was a
longtime member of St. Vincent PCCW and was a St. Vincent de Paul School
officer. She was a member of the Society of Foresters.

After her husband’s death she became involved in volunteer work,
volunteering as an escort at Riverview Hospital, worked for funerals at church,
making cupcakes for bingo night at church and taking communion to the homebound.

Survivors include four children, Sharon (Peter) Pangburn,
Wisconsin Rapids, John (Jan) Eckerman, Plover, Jane Timm, De Pere, and Ann
(Bruce) Kondro, Green Bay; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, William,
James, Charles and Donald Schacht.
