Patrick J. Spreda

Patrick J. Spreda, 69, Stevens Point, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital after suffering complications from Agent Orange contracted during the Vietnam War.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 15, with American Legion Post 6 holding a ritual at 6:30 p.m., followed by a general rosary, and at the church from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Monday.

Mr. Spreda was born March 17, 1947, in Stevens Point, a son
of the late James and Regina (Kabachinski) Spreda. He graduated from P.J.
Jacobs High School in 1965.
He entered the U.S. Army July 21, 1966, in Milwaukee. He
earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam
Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged as a specialist
fourth class July 13, 1969, from the U.S. Army Personnel Center in Oakland, Calif.
After his honorable discharge, he returned to Stevens Point
and began a 35-year career at Consolidated Papers (later Stora Enso) until his
retirement in 2004.
He was married to Theresa “Terry” Kostka June 5, 1971, at
St. Joseph Church. She died March 17, 2010.
He was a member of American Legion Post 6 in Stevens Point.
Survivors include two sons, John Spreda, Junction City, and
Matthew (Tammy) Spreda, Stevens Point; four brothers, Mike (Kathy), David
(Gerri), Richard and James (Darlene).
