By Robert Whitmire
The Stevens Point Area Senior High School Greenhouse will hold its annual open house this Saturday, May 14th from 10 AM through 3 PM.
The greenhouse sale, sponsored by the school’s horticulture class will take place in conjunction with a brat fry being held by the Stevens Point chapter of the FFA.
Proceeds from the brat fry will go to the Portage County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit with proceeds from the plant sale slated for the continuing operation of the Greenhouse.
A wide variety of annuals, hanging baskets, vegetables and selected house plants to include geraniums, tomatoes, marigolds, pansies and Johnnie Jump-up violets will be available for purchase.
Greenhouse student managers Liz Hirzy and MacKenzie Betro have been hard at work to each day to prepare plants for the annual sale as a part of Stephanie Beranek’s horticulture class.
Hirzy and Betro spend about two hours each day in the greenhouse watering, fertilizing and keeping things orderly.
The brat fry and greenhouse sale are also noted on the Rummage Through Point & Plover map.
