August V. Peplinski

August V. Peplinski, 79, Custer, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016,
at his home on the 58th anniversary of his wedding, while under the care of
Ministry Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday,
May 23, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Custer, with the Rev.
Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens
Point from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 22, with a Bible vigil at 7 p.m., and at the
church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday.

Mr. Peplinski was born Jan. 12, 1937, in the town of
Stockton, a son of the late Leon and Martha (Lepak) Peplinski. He graduated
from Amherst High School.
He was married to Janet Blaskowski May 17, 1958, at St.
Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. She died April 23, 2016.
He served eight years with the Wisconsin National Guard and was
called into active service to the U.S. Army Oct. 15, 1961, during the Berlin
Crisis. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on May 5, 1962.
He joined the Union Iron Workers Union 383 April 1, 1957,
and retired Feb. 1, 1999, remaining an active union member.
He and his wife spent 14 winters traveling and camping in
Texas and Arizona after their retirement.
Survivors include five children, Cindy (Rick) Henke, Amherst
Junction, Dennis (Debbie) Peplinski, Birnamwood, Jeffery (Chris) Peplinski,
Eland, Diane (Russell) Wysocki, Custer, and Lyle (Donna) Peplinski, Black River
Falls; one sister, Connie (Rene) Pauloski, Scandinavia; two brothers, Jim
(Aggie) Peplinski, Polonia, and Leo (Barb) Peplinski, Amherst Junction; 12
grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
