Probation for Last Man Accused in Iverson Park Beating

The last of five men implicated in a May 2014 beating was sentenced on Monday in Portage Co. Circuit Court.
Eric Constante, 22, was convicted after pleading no contest to aggravated battery Monday. He was sentenced to three years of probation and perform 80 hours of community service.
Along with his co-defendants, Constante is responsible for almost $19,000 in restitution.
Police say Constante was part of a group who viciously beat another man, 36, shortly before 6 PM on Memorial Day during during what police called an “isolated” incident in 2014.
Angelo Garcia, 25, of Stevens Point, was sentenced in August to three years of probation for his participation in the assault. Another Stevens Point man, Jesus Rangel, 28, was sentenced last July to three years in jail, followed and three years of extended supervision.
Last September, two more men, 20-year-old Auston Ortiz of Stevens Point, and Wisconsin Rapids resident Frank Martinez, 26, were sentenced to three years of probation for their roles in the attack.
The victim was taken to a Wausau hospital where he was treated for multiple facial fractures. Police determined the victim had been beaten with fists and a wooden mallet or stick and in front of his child.
