The students of Jenna Feltz’ class participated in a bike rodeo designed to promote bicycle safety, held annually at the school.
“We do this for second, third and fourth graders, where we teach them hand signals and how to use their bikes safely,” Pionke said, adding the department sets up age-appropriate activity stations in the school’s parking lot, which simulates real-world encounters with pedestrians and other bicyclists.
The department also teaches gun safety, internet safety and drug and alcohol awareness at St. Bron’s and other Plover schools each year.
