Shirley C. Deer
Shirley Caroline Deer, 89, Waupaca, a rural Amherst native,
died Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28,
at the Maple Crest Funeral Home in Waupaca.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday
until the service.
An additional memorial service will be held in Milwaukee at
a later date.

Mrs. Deer was born Aug. 26, 1926, in rural Amherst, a
daughter of the late William and Stella Stoltenberg. She graduated from Amherst
High School.
She attended business school before working for the Civil
Aeronautics Administration during World War II in the Carolinas and returned to
Wisconsin after the war.
She was married to Phillip Deer of Milwaukee in 1949. He
preceded her in death at 41 years of marriage.
She retired from the L.M. Barry Company in 1988.
She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and
an avid volunteer until becoming a resident of Bethany Home in Waupaca in 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Darla (Frank) Hanford,
Sheryl (David Haberman) Deer and Vicki (Leon Weyant) Deer; and one granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harlan
Stoltenberg.
