LETTER: Student Thanks Community for Faith in Class

To the Editor-
If you believe in kids, kids can achieve great things!
As a student of Ben Franklin Jr. High school and a student of Mr. Greco’s World of Business class, I believe we made history. We organized a fundraising event at Lower Whiting Park for the Portage County K-9 unit.
During the event, we had a cookout, popped popcorn, hosted a fishing tournament, and set up many activities. An event which has never been done by a 9th grade class in the Stevens Point Area, especially on this large of a scale. It was a huge success! We raised nearly $5,700. Our class project was our “book”. However, this experience would not have been a success without the help of our community.
The K-9 unit was an important choice for us because it keeps people safe and we found out that one of the dogs was diagnosed with cancer. We wish Baco and his handler the best of luck. Our adventure was inevitable. Our success was possible by all the donors:
Thank You To: Burger King, County Market, RA Team Inc., KCI Sports, Okray Farms, Family Video, King Cone, Sweet Frog, Subway, Polito’s, Furniture + Appliance Mart, Belt’s, Tanning Studio, Girls in Pearls, Justin Groshek, Joyce Johnson, Brian Taft, Kim Haas, Chris Trelka, Warren Greco, Natalie Greco, Nate Schulfer, John and Wanda Lay, David Lay, Lee Folz, Trina Golla, Jenn Konkol, Mr. Jeremy King, Randy Streblow, Mr. Matt Jacowski, Wendle and Teresa Coulthurst, Brian Zimmerman, Tom Zorzin, Connie Spring, Scott Strojny, Sonia Lee, Patricia Kohler, Plover Express, Jack and Bonnie Stanley, Thomas B Toepfer, Carol S Toepfer, Robert and Rose Wanserski, Cheryl and Paul Wachowiak, Stevens Point Firefighters Local 484 Charitable Foundation, Judy Cable Anderson, Lisa and Dave Hoeser, Arthur and Susan Reinhardt, Patrick and Diana Steffen, Suzan O’Keefe, and many more!
Without you, this would not have been possible! We appreciate your help and support!
Sincerely,
