Rookies’ Polka Fans Donate to Family Crisis Center

Polka fans at Rookies Sports Pub brought in a hefty load of food for the Family Crisis Center — along with a big chunk of change.

The pub holds Polka Sundays throughout each winter and early spring; its last Polka Sunday offers free admission, with a hitch: attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food or cash donations to benefit the Family Crisis Center.

“These great polka fans raised over $1,000 in donations for them,” said Rookies owner Randy Woyak, who estimated about 300 people attended the last polka show on May 15.

The pub’s polka season starts back up on Sept. 25, 2016 with fan favorite Norm Dombrowski’s Happy Notes.

The Family Crisis Center offers emergency shelter and other assistance for domestic violence victims and those in crisis. The center can be reached at (715)  343-7125.
