Donna M. Schroeder, age 79, of Almond, Wis., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover, Wis.

She was born March 20, 1937 in Wausau, Wis.; daughter of Anthony and Frances (Matson) Mientke.

On December 6, 1952, Donna married Arleigh R. Schroeder in Oshkosh and together they shared 57 years of marriage before his passing on September 8, 2010. Donna truly enjoyed working as a waitress at Two Lakes Supper Club in Almond for 25 years, during which time she met a lot of people and valued the friendships she made. She was active in the Ladies Aid at St. John’s Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed making quilts and greeting cards. She loved to crochet, and made numerous afghans which she shared with loved ones. Donna will be deeply missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Donna is survived by her children; Carol Knope of Richfield, Susan (Kevin) Lemke of Almond, and Alan (Alison) Schroeder of Plover. Grandchildren: Matthew (Erin) Lemke of Almond, Christopher (Roxanna) Schroeder of Polonia, Amanda (John) Ruzicka of Bancroft, Jeffrey Knope of Richfield, Heather (Kris) Lockman of Plover, Steven (Emily) Knope of West Bend, and Margie Smith-Schroeder of Plover. Great-Grandchildren: Chloe Schroeder, Alex Schroeder, Paige Lemke, Maxwell Lemke, and Clayton Ruzicka.

Donna is also survived by her siblings: Joyce (Bill) Freiberg of Oshkosh, James (Nancy) Mientke of Portage, Bob (Gwen) Williams of Oshkosh and her Brother-In-Laws: Llewelyn (Carrie) Schroeder of Plainfield, Jim (Doreen) Schroeder of West Bend and Sister-In-Laws: Jeanette Davis of Oshkosh, Wilma Pekarske of Appleton, Beverly Sanchez of Oshkosh, and Karen Schroeder of Wisconsin Rapids.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Mientke and Frances Williams; her step-father, Robert Williams, Sr.; her husband, Arleigh Schroeder; twin sons, Daniel and David Schroeder; and a grandson, Timothy Knope.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at The Lodge at Whispering Pines and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Almond, WI. Reverend Brian Roehrborn will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Plainfield Village Cemetery in the Town of Plainfield following the service on Saturday. The Hardell-Holly Funeral Home of Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
