SPARTA presents scholarship to local student

Jordan Kaminski was recently named the recipient of the 2016 Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers’ Association (SPARTA) scholarship.
Jordan is the daughter of John and Heather Kaminski, Stevens Point. She is a 2016 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) and a Youth Options student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she will have completed 24 credits by the end of the year. Jordan plans to major in special and elementary education.
Jordan has participated and volunteered in co-curricular and community activities and has received the following honors: National Honor Society, 2014 to present; High Honors, 2012-2013 and Honor Roll, 2014 to present; SPASH Health Assistant, 2014 to present; Kiwanis Key Club, 2013 to 2015; FCCLA Student chairperson of Salvation Army Hope House, 2013 to present; Student chairperson of the SPASH Safety Committee, 2015 to present; 1st Team All-Conference 2014 SPASH Softball; Fire Pro Fastpitch Softball, 2012 to 2015; Point Fastpitch Coach, 2013 to present; and umpire and score keeper Point Fastpitch, 2010 to present.
Jordan currently works as a nanny and at the YMCA of Stevens Point Drop-In-Care, and the Member Services and Program Desk from 2014 to present.
