Alfred C. Ryan, 85, Crandon, a former longtime Stevens Point resident, died Thursday, May 26, 2016.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Wausau, with the Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Wausau.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the Mass.

Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau assisted with arrangements.

Mr. Ryan was born July 1, 1930, in Wausau, a son of the late
Cornelius and Erna (Pomeranc) Ryan. He grew up in Wausau.

He entered the U.S. Navy in November 1951. He spent two
years in the Navy, stationed in Newfoundland.

After his discharge, he returned to school and graduated
from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he majored in English and economics.

After graduation he went to work for Sentry Insurance in Steven
Point. He held various jobs in purchasing and sales, retiring in February 1989.

During his time at Sentry Insurance, he was president of the
local Optimist Club, was active in Scout work, was the Fair Housing
Commissioner for the city of Steven Point and was a member of the Elks Club of
Stevens Point.

Survivors include two brothers, James, Wausau, and Tom,
Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one
brother.
