Cliff King, CEO of Skyward, holds up a $100 bill — one final donation to the World of Business class at Ben Franklin Jr. High.
King called the students’ efforts in organizing a fundraiser to benefit the Portage Co. K-9 Unit “impressive”, but didn’t care for their ending total of $6,900.
“I prefer dealing in round numbers,” King said with a smile Wednesday at the software company’s new headquarters, 2601 Skyward Drive.
The company specializes in K–12 software and was founded by the King Family.
The students set an initial fundraising goal of $1,500, but on June 2 will have the chance to shave teacher Art Greco’s head — a treat offered up by Greco to motivate the students to exceed that number — during an all-school assembly.
The class had formally ended their fundraiser on May 20, but a surprised Greco said the class would include the final $100 donation, bringing the students’ total to a cool $7,000 to benefit to Portage Co. K-9 Unit.
